This Chocolate Berry Smoothie Bowl is full of chocolatey goodness but it’s still healthy and antioxidant-rich. It can be enjoyed for breakfast or dessert.
Smoothie bowls are a passion of mine as you may have seen in my How to Make Smoothie Bowls post. While they’re fun to make and tasty to eat, most mornings I don’t have the time.
On work days I usually have to throw my smoothie in a cup and rush out the door. On weekends, however, I can relax a bit more and create a pretty smoothie bowl for myself to enjoy.
Toppings are the way to go to for an extra tasty smoothie bowl and to make it more of a “meal” than a regular smoothie.
For my Chocolate Berry Smoothie Bowl, I used coconut flakes, fresh blueberries and some of my Chocolate Buckwheat Granola but you could use any toppings you have on hand. I also like to use hemp seeds, nuts, or even some nut butter to add more protein.
Dairy-Free & Antioxidant Rich Chocolate Goodness
I love the combo of chocolate and berries together. Sometimes I’ll make this bowl with only one kind of berry like raspberries (they’re my favorite with chocolate) but for this smoothie bowl, I used a berry mixture. Feel free to play around with different berries to find your favorite.
Blueberries are a good source of anthocyanins (a blue, violet, or red flavonoid pigment found in plants) which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. If you’re using raw cacao powder, you’re adding in more beneficial antioxidants of flavanols – so that’s a double breakfast win!
I use a dairy free vegan chocolate protein powder to add protein and some chocolatey goodness because let’s face it, having chocolate for breakfast is fun.
Chocolate Berry Smoothie Bowl
This bowl doesn’t have to just be for breakfast. If I’m looking for something sweet anytime during the day I’ll make one of these babies so that I get that “dessert” feeling but do it in a healthy way.
You could enjoy this smoothie bowl:
- at breakfast
- as an after-workout meal
- for lunch on a warm day
- a mid afternoon snack so you’re not reaching for something unhealthy
- dessert when you want something sweet but want to make a healthier choice than ice cream

Chocolate Berry Smoothie Bowl
This Chocolate Berry Smoothie Bowl is full of chocolatey goodness but still healthy. It can be enjoyed for breakfast or dessert.
Add all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. You can add a little extra milk in if you need.
Pour into large bowl and add any toppings you like.
