These Vampire Bite Cupcakes are perfect for Halloween or watching your favorite scary movies. Filled with strawberry jam, they'll scare everyone that takes a bite!
Halloween is a time for fun treats. And what better way to celebrate than with some Vampire Bite Cupcakes that are fun for both adults and kids alike?
I kept these treats simple and only did little bite marks - I feel they're almost scarier that way.
These vampire cupcakes are an ode to my beloved vampires. They're the only "monster" that I've always been fascinated with. For some reason, Vampires seem alluring and mysterious - more of a cool killer which for some reason is better than Jason or Freddy Kruger.
I love Interview with a Vampire, The Lost Boys, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and of course the Twilight movies. I even took the photos with a sparkly background because I love how vampires sparkle in the sunlight in the Twilight series.
Vampire Bite Cupcake Filling
People often wonder, what's that inside the cupcakes?
Blood? Nah, it's just strawberry jam. I actually put my Strawberry Chia Jam in the middle of these vampire cupcakes and when you take a bite, all the strawberry goodness comes out too!
Using my chia jam rather than store-bought brands will take the high fructose corn syrup and artificial additives out of this recipe.

Omg girl, this has to be one of my favorite posts I've seen on here!!!! I LOOOOOOOVVEE it!!! So cute! I also have to give you mad props for using strawberry jam instead of food coloring- I usually don't make a lot of those "fun" treats because we don't use dyes. And YAY for being a Twilight fan with no shame lol! I loved that series when it was popular. Thanks so much for sharing!
Mary Ellen says
Thank you so much Randi! That means a lot!
I am so scared of food coloring now, especially after starting my nutrition classes - that stuff should not be in anyone's body!
I was totally obsessed with the Twilight books. Once the movies came out I wasn't as into it but that didn't stop me from watching them lol.
onesonicbite says
These cupcakes are so perfect and uniform looking! I betcha they are super tasty. I love how you don't put too much frosting on them.
Mary Ellen says
Thanks! They were one of my tougher photo shoots (I actually had to do them twice but I'm not complaining about eating cupcakes!)
Life Diet Health says
Ooo these are scary but in a fun kind of way! I don't do scary films either - I think I too got scared watching Freddy Kruger when I was a lot younger! I think these will get made soon! 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
Mary Ellen says
Yes, Freddy scared me so much! Thank you! Let me know if you try them!
Life Diet Health says
Will do ☺

I share your fear of scary films! But would readily embrace these - they look great 😀
Mary Ellen says
Thanks so much Kari! Good to know I'm not alone in not liking scary movies!
Vicki says
these are adorable!
Mary Ellen says
Thanks so much Vicki! 🙂
Melissa @ Vegan Huggs says
These are so adorable! I love that they're kid-friendly, too. I used to watch scary movies when I was younger, but I seriously can't handle them anymore.
Mary Ellen says
Thanks so much Melissa! Yes, my nephew really liked these cupcakes. 🙂 I'm with you! I can't handle anything remotely scary!
Courtney's Cookbook says
This is such a cute idea-- I love it!
Mary Ellen says
Thank you Courtney! <3
Christine @ Run Plant Based says
These look so fun and cute, need to find an excuse to make them - thanks! I'm a fan of campy scary movies, like a lot of the corny old ones on Netflix. But not so much the disturbingly real ones.
Mary Ellen says
The disturbingly real ones mess me up, but I think I can do some campy ones too!
rockmyvegansocks says
These are awesome Mary Ellen! They are cute AND scary! And a very good ode to our beloved vampires (especially the Twilight ones). I have to admit, I do like scary movies - we've been doing a movie marathon. It started out pretty well... and then we watched a movie called "Babadook" and we both got scared. Don't watch it.
Have you seen Casper?? You would like it. It's the 1995 version with Christina Ricci. It's my favourite "cute" Halloween movie =)
Mary Ellen says
Thanks Kimmy! And I will stay FAR away from Babadook!
Yes! I love Casper! I always forget about that movie until I randomly see it on and then I remember how much I love it! That will be on my Halloween list for sure this year! Good call!
Becky says
Aah these are super adorable. What a clever idea!
Mary Ellen says
Thanks so much Becky!
Cadry's Kitchen says
These are so stinking cute! I love them. The only vampires that I've ever been into were on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This would be perfect for a TV watching night to reconnect with the old gang. 😀
Mary Ellen says
I used to love Buffy! I haven't thought about that show in a while! It would be a great treat to re-watch with!
Beth Hornback | Eat Within Your Means says
I'm not a scary movie person either, although I did watch The Walking Dead for a while, and Dexter of all things. These are super cute cupcakes!
Mary Ellen says
Thanks so much Beth! Yes, I watched Dexter too! For some reason that didn't scare me as much as I thought it would. I mean I was a little scared at times but nothing like watching horror movies!
frieddandelions says
Ooh yeah, we watched Dexter too. I watched many scenes through my fingers because I was too freaked out! I don't do scary....except for these cupcakes 🙂
Mary Ellen says
Lol, thanks Sarah!
Amy Katz from Veggies Save The Day says
I'm with you. I don't like really scary movies. But these cupcakes are so awesome!
Mary Ellen says
Thanks so much Amy! I'm glad I'm not the only one that isn't a fan of them!
Johanna @ Green Gourmet Giraffe says
Those are really cute - I don't like scary movies either but married someone who does so I do my best but occasionally have to say enough!
Mary Ellen says
Thanks Johanna! Haha, sometimes enough is enough with the scary stuff - I'm with you!
Kate says
These are seriously amazing! Subtle, yet scary.
I'm just like you... Not into horror movies. In fact, when I was 14, my mom and stepdad went away one night and I decided I was old enough to stay home alone (my brother lived nearby). I then decided to watch "The Exorcist" just to prove a point to my mom, who claimed she couldn't sleep for 2 weeks after she watched it when it came out. I laughed at her... Until I watched it and ended up calling my brother to go to his place for the night. Lol
Vampires are also my favourite. So many good books to read as well! Have you read "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova? One of my favourite books ever. ?
Mary Ellen says
Haha, that's an awesome story. You're braver than me, I have still never seen the Exorcist!
YES! I love the Historian! That's one of my favorite books too! I feel like many people didn't hear of it. We have the same taste in vampire books. 🙂
Ginny McMeans says
I love these. Something different and a lot delicious.
Mary Ellen says
Aw, thanks so much Ginny!
Dianne says
These are so cute! I wish I was having a Halloween party this year so I could have an excuse to make them!
Mary Ellen says
Thanks Dianne! I know, I want to show them off somewhere but I don't have anywhere to bring them. Maybe my co-workers will get a scary little treat this year!
Jenn says
Aw, so cute! And scary. 🙂 Love the strawberry jam inside.
Mary Ellen says
Thanks Jenn! I'm a scaredy cat at heart so they're as spooky as I get!
